What goes in the tool string
The downhole string is made up of five parts: pulser, turbine generator, directional probe, gamma measurement and battery power. Below is an overview of each module; full data is on the individual product pages.
Mud pulser
Available in six types — rotary valve, positive pulse, piston, oil-compensated, bagless and shear valve — covering tools from different manufacturers and different generations.
Fits APS 475 / 675 / 800 rotary valve pulsers and equivalent tools
Mud turbine generator
150 W rated, 30–36 VDC adjustable, 1,800–5,000 RPM, 70 mm body OD, flow range 11–22 L/s (475 size), 20,000 psi rated, continuous life > 450 hours, circulating pressure drop < 160 psi.
Directional probe
48 mm and 42 mm outside diameters, with three-axis fluxgate magnetometers and three-axis quartz accelerometers. Calibrated across the full temperature range, with compensation coefficients written to each individual probe.
Natural gamma
NaI scintillation crystal with photomultiplier tube, in 26.7 / 32 / 34.5 mm detector sizes; crystals held in our own stock.
Azimuthal gamma
Directional response through a shielded window, in 48 mm and 5–7 in. sizes, for geosteering.
Downhole battery
Lithium thionyl chloride packs graded by temperature class; supplied with matching battery barrel and shock mounts.
